Okay, now that's more like it. Finally I am taking my little stashes of fabric and actually am getting quilts pieced. This was a cute print I had with elephants. I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I just started sewing. This is my outcome. i do love it. It has no home, but it will. I love the greens and pinks. I love down time, I can actually get something done!
Now this is shabby chic at its best, or at least to me it is. I had stashed away my Mom's nobby bedspread, knowing someday I would find a use for it. I lost my Mom 6 years ago tomorrow. Knowing that she didn't want to spoil my birthday, that bugger passed away the day before. Ya right, like that didn't spoil my birthday. Anyway I miss her and saved her bedspread for someone special. Well that someone special is my new little granddaughter Layla. She was born January 4. She is the first of my Grandchildren that my mom didn't get to hold, so I figured that if I included her bedspread in her quilt, that would be just as good. So this is Mom's way of holding Layla, and my way of nevering letting us forget my very best friend. Dang, miss that girl!!!!
Now Finally this my little Karter's funky Monkey creation. I found this fabric and Karter's nickname is Funky Monkey, so it was a match. I did this to appear as looking out the window at the slopes. I am putting red minky on the back. A great snuggle up quilt.
I spent the rest of the afternoon putting binding on a quilt that I can only refer to as "the beast". It is a western quilt (king size plus) with minky on the back. I am not kidding I think it must weigh 50 lbs. Making it manipulate under my machine was a real challenge. The only way I have been able to undertake this, is by being under the influence. Again, my pain pills. That bugger has been crying to be finished for over a year. I have a log bed downstairs, and can't wait to put it on it. I will post a picture. That will be a major feat, as you can only imagine.
