Todays the first day of my blog!

Wow what an accomplishment for me. I am learning something new. I would love to be able to share all of the fun things I do and this may be the avenue to use. I thought I would start out with showing just how perfectly organized I am. Everything has its place in our home, I'm just not sure exactly where that is. It seems to change from Day to Day. I love to work on piecing quilts, handwork, scrapbooking and about anything dealing with sewing. I have a fettish for aprons the past year. The way my days normally go, is I have a great idea on what I would like to work on. Now where did I put that pattern, two or three hours later I find it neatly filed in one of my thousand obvious places. Then what fabric was I going to use? I have a piece of every fabric ever created......and then the search resumes. After my two hour search I realize I tucked my pattern away again safely, another hour passes. I'm tired, don't want to sew anymore and go play games on the computer, or better yet order more fabric on the computer. "This is my life, and I'm keeping it"

Making Progress on my Projects!

Okay, now that's more like it. Finally I am taking my little stashes of fabric and actually am getting quilts pieced. This was a cute print I had with elephants. I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I just started sewing. This is my outcome. i do love it. It has no home, but it will. I love the greens and pinks. I love down time, I can actually get something done!

Now this is shabby chic at its best, or at least to me it is. I had stashed away my Mom's nobby bedspread, knowing someday I would find a use for it. I lost my Mom 6 years ago tomorrow. Knowing that she didn't want to spoil my birthday, that bugger passed away the day before. Ya right, like that didn't spoil my birthday. Anyway I miss her and saved her bedspread for someone special. Well that someone special is my new little granddaughter Layla. She was born January 4. She is the first of my Grandchildren that my mom didn't get to hold, so I figured that if I included her bedspread in her quilt, that would be just as good. So this is Mom's way of holding Layla, and my way of nevering letting us forget my very best friend. Dang, miss that girl!!!!

Now Finally this my little Karter's funky Monkey creation. I found this fabric and Karter's nickname is Funky Monkey, so it was a match. I did this to appear as looking out the window at the slopes. I am putting red minky on the back. A great snuggle up quilt.
I spent the rest of the afternoon putting binding on a quilt that I can only refer to as "the beast". It is a western quilt (king size plus) with minky on the back. I am not kidding I think it must weigh 50 lbs. Making it manipulate under my machine was a real challenge. The only way I have been able to undertake this, is by being under the influence. Again, my pain pills. That bugger has been crying to be finished for over a year. I have a log bed downstairs, and can't wait to put it on it. I will post a picture. That will be a major feat, as you can only imagine.

The Road to Recovery

Nothing like re-cooperating with an entire fabric store at my hands. I knew there was a good reason I kept shopping online. It was because one day I would not leave my house, because of a cruel joke played on me! I swear my ears look like I had my Grandpa's replaced over them. HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I started one of my favorite quilts. It is a pattern by Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches. I ordered it from Australia, I swear I need to go down under and meet my soul sisters in quilting. Anyway, I bought this because of block 2, which I started today. I will post a step by step update on my progress. Hopefully that will keep me focused. One of my biggest problems. I have given this quilt away to many of my deserving friends in my mind. They cry and hug me and tell me how they don't deserve it. So after much contemplation, I agree, they don't. I get this one. Sorry Cari, you lose! It's ironic that the this block says, "Good Friends by your Side". Oh well, my friends know what a loser I am.
